Rebuilding After the Eaton Wildfire: Guidance, Resources & Support

In the aftermath of a wildfire, the path to rebuilding can feel overwhelming. At McPherson Engineering, we understand the challenges homeowners face, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Whether you need to determine if your foundation is still viable, explore rebuilding options, or simply get answers to questions you might not even know to ask, we’re committed to providing honest guidance, trusted expertise, and compassionate support—without any obligation.

We stand with the Altadena community, committed to helping families rebuild and restore the homes and businesses that have long defined this resilient neighborhood.

For the latest recovery resources and rebuilding information, visit LA County Recovery. As debris removal progresses, homeowners can begin planning their rebuild and applying for permits. While construction cannot begin until the debris removal phase is complete, residents who plan to rebuild are encouraged to start the permitting process as soon as they are ready to avoid delays.

We're Here to Help!

For many homeowners, navigating the rebuilding process can feel like stepping into the unknown. That’s why we’re offering free Zoom consultations with our CEO, Ryan McPherson, and Senior Designer, Julio Wuence.

Just genuine support, resources, and expert guidance for homeowners determining their next steps.

During these consultations, we can discuss:

✔️ What questions to ask before rebuilding

✔️ How to determine if your foundation is salvageable

✔️ What a realistic rebuilding timeline looks like

✔️ How to plan ahead for design and structural needs

✔️ What to consider when choosing a contractor or engineer

✔️ How to navigate permits and approvals

✔️ Steps to protect yourself from predatory developers and misleading offers

✔️ Any other concerns you may have about restoring your home and future

Complimentary Foundation Inspections

Before making any decisions, it’s essential to understand the structural integrity of your foundation. McPherson Engineering provides complimentary foundation inspections to help you determine whether your home’s base is safe for rebuilding or if replacement is necessary.

Rebuilding Takes Time—Stay Informed

The recovery process doesn’t happen overnight. It’s okay to take your time, gather information, and make thoughtful decisions that align with your family’s needs and long-term goals. Unfortunately, after disasters, some companies take advantage of homeowners' uncertainty, offering quick solutions that may not be in your best interest. We encourage you to ask questions, seek trusted advice, and make informed choices as you move forward.

LA County One-Stop Permit Centers

For additional guidance, LA County is hosting One-Stop Permit Centers in both the Palisades and Eaton fire burn areas. These centers provide expert support, answer homeowner questions, and connect residents with the building and planning departments responsible for their area.

Appointments for rebuilding consultations begin on March 17.
